Change Room Rate After Check-in

I created a motel reservation to invest 2 evenings (17 September-18 September) in the Courtyard Resort utilizing the Marriott Reservation point. I came across a certification in the Marriott site to get a “Treat You to Ultimately a weekend Escape along with a free 2nd night”. I established using the reservation person who it was legitimate for my stay and he did. He explained I simply had a need to print-out the website and provide it towards the table at check in. At check in I offered the certification towards the front desk. They named the “Marriott Benefits Hotel Source Desk” and established it had been legitimate and could be recognized. I used the two evenings as of this resort and merely hours before my check out I obtained a telephone call in the table informing me they created an error and also the certification wasn't likely to be recognized and that I would be billed for that 2nd evening. Easily might have been informed this in the time I created the reservation, or at check in period, I'd have created additional preparations. I've submitted a using the BBB. Just how can they escape with doing something similar to this?
