Suitcase torn and no one answers baggage claim phone number

I flew for the first time on Spirit Airlines recently. I used a new suitcase just purchased a few days before and they tore a big hole in it. A Spirit employee at my destination said all the airlines are the same and gave me a phone number to call (not even a toll free one). Well, no matter what time you call or what day of the week; you always get a message saying they are closed. You can leave a message, but you will never be called back.
