Lying to the consume

Traveling & Tourism

I booked a room in Washingtn DC on 10/2/08 through hotels.com. They called me on 12/4/08 and told me that the hotel had cancelled my reservation and that they had booked me a room miles away from my original room. I told them I would not accept that and eventually I was hung up on. I called them again 2 more times and was disconnected both times. I originally spoke with a supervisor named Toni and again with John. I then called the hotel and they told me that they had not cancelled my room, and gave me the booking number. I thought it was settled, then again on 12/8/08 Toni from hotels.com calls again and leaves a message to call her and confirm my new reservation 10 minutes away from my original hotel. My husband called hotels.com back and told them that I had called the hotel and was told by them that my room had not been cancelled, and the person at hotels.com said that the hotel "was lying" and that I should accept the room further away from the capital. I booked the room early because I felt that this inauguration was going to be historic and I wanted to be in town to witness it all. The rooms now are going at a much larger price, and I believe that hotels.com wants to resell this room right in the capitol to someone else at a much higher price. Thanks for listening.
