They ask if you only have a debit card... Why it doesnt matte

I went on priceline.com to get a rental car. I was fully aware of the way they operate. I put my bid in at $15 dollars a day and it was accepted. I also check off the box that said check here if the renter of the car only has a debit card. My offer was accepted and then I seen a disclaimer saying that if you have a debit card you must also have a return fight itinerary. I called priceline right away adn explained to the person that I was not traveling by plane and that I didnt have a return itinerary. He explain to me that what i was reading was a general disclaimer and that not all of the there rental partners required the return itinerary. I asked him if the rental company that had accepted my offer requier this nad her told me NO, that I was all set to pick up my rental at the scheduled time.

I get to the counter at the rental office and they see my debit card and turn me away and explain to me that they are not paid until the rental has been picked up and they dont even have my money yet. I called priceline and explained to them what was going on and was transfered 2 times and finally spoke to someone who told me that once tey find out that the car has not been rented that and the company refused to release the car to me that they would refund my money. This was on a Thursday I have a job and am very busy at times. I called them Monday morning to find out when my card was going to be credited they told me they would contact me 7 to 10 business days after the scheduled drop off day. I asked to speak with a supervispr and they refused to put one on they line. I also asked to speak to someone in there financial department because they didnt wait 7 to 10 days to take my money off of my card and i dont want to have to wait that long to get it back. She still refused to get me intouch with a supervisor. When I informed her that I was going to contact the BBB and the attorney general's office she told me "do what you have to". So I am doing what I have to I hope that other people will read this and be warned. I specifical checked the box stating I was only using a debit card why would they connect me with a company that has stipulations on the use of a debit card. Priceline never asked if I had a return itinerary only if I was using debit card. Now who is to blame?
