Free Cruise in exchange for completing Household Survey Ft. Lauderdale

Traveling & Tourism

A few weeks ago I received a telephone call asking me to participate in a household survey. The automated message stated that if I gave them 3 minutes of my time, I would receive 2 free tickets for an all inclusive 2 day cruise to Nassau, Bahamas.

As promised, after a few minutes of answering about 20 questions a representative came on the line asking for my e-mail address and a telephone number that my cruise coordinator could reach me at.

I checked my e-mail later that evening and there was what looked like the actual boarding pass with all my information. I am a very skeptical person and I figured that there had to be a catch, but nothing else was asked of me in the e-mail.

A few days later, my phone started ringing off the hook. This 877 number kept calling 5-6 times a day. I had made my mind up that there had to be a catch and I refused to even bother answering the call.

A month has passed and they are still as persistent as ever. I finally decided to call this number and find out more information. While I was on hold, I got online to check the e-mail that they had sent me.

I noticed an icon that I could click on to see a virtual tour of the ship, but when I clicked on it, the page could not be found. So I noticed the name of the ship in the top corner, Imperial Majesty Cruise Lines.

I was still waiting to talk to a representative, as I googled the name of the ship and located an article with the words "complaint". I started reading everyone's stories and abruptly hung up the phone before anyone got on to take my call.

From the reports that I have read on here, this appears to be the exact same scam, only I did not receive my information by mail and it was not described to me as a contest. Also, I had not read about anyone else participating in a survey.

There has been nothing mentioned to me about time shares either, but I am wondering if someone could let me know if this is the same scam and would like to here more details about what exactly they went through.

In closing, I would also like to thank you all for bringing this information to everyone's attention. If it is the same scam, I am grateful that I will not be another one to fall victim to this "dream vacation". And my sincerest condolences to those who have.
