Room Reservation&cancellations are an impossible situation

This company has taken over Hotel reservations for companies like Orbitz and Travelocity—[outsourcing].
A reservation can be made from the Travel Web Page—this is turned over to Alliance Reservation Network who immediately deduct the room charge and a $9.00 service charge you don't know about.

Now if you have a need to cancel the reservation you call [not the Hotel] but Alliance Reservations who inform you that they keep the $9.00. They then tell you that they will credit your credit card for the room charge. They forget to tell you that they also keep $30.00 of the room charge just for good measure.
They are not anxious to refund the room charge alone even though you were never in the room.

So sad that Hotels can't handle their own reservations, if this is saving the Hotels money, it does not reflect on the room rental.

In talking with anyone from Alliance, it appears they are trained not to have a conscience.

As a simple warning, make your reservations directly with your Hotel of choice, Never from Orbitz, Travelocity and the like. It will cost you.
