American Classic Inn Filthy hotel ripped us off - false advertisement on Pet friendly policy!

I normally am a very mild mannered person but this place is an absolute ripoff and I recieved a total scam job!

My wife and I were traveling back down from Pennsylvania to Alabama for the Army. We decided to stay here because it was about halfway down for the night. We decided to stay here because they said they had a pet friendly policy.

When we checked in, the worker at the desk did not know how to check us in and it took 45 minutes after driving all day to get checked in. She asked us if we had any pets and I said yes, and she said there would be a $20 deposit and I said no problem.

The first problem I noticed was that the doors had cheap single locks that were used with regular keys (not cards). There was no deadbolt or latches. Further, the doors are accesiable to the public.

The room was filthy inside. There was no toilet paper, and to top it off we found a used condom in the sheets of the bed. Further, a lady showed up at our room and said they were recieving complaints about our dog (we were with them the whole time and they never barked), and that only dogs under 10 lbs were allowed to stay at the hotel. This was after we had already checked in and the staff had already seen our dog. No policy was written anywhere about this!

We decided to check out immediately after only 15 minutes rather than be "evicted" because of our dog, and guess what, we got charged the full price for the room, plus a $50 "unauthorized pet access" charge.

We ended up staying at the Holiday Inn in Johnson City and they were great! I'm still trying to fight these nasty charges they put on my credit card, but do yourself a huge favor and avoid this filthy ripoff immediately!

What a way to treat a returning veteran!
