Discriminate Against Age Group

A group of friends and I decided to rent a cabin in Pigeon Forge for our last spring break together before we all graduate from college. We are all 21 or older. We reserved the cabin for a week online and everything went well.

A month later, we decided we wanted to stay another night. When we called The Preserve Resort, they promptly told us our reservation had been cancelled and our money had been refunded. When we asked why, we were told because we were in college. The receptionist was extremely rude and did not answer any questions.

We called back and demanded to speak to a manager. No where in the contract did they have any clauses about not renting to college students. The only article said that the renters must be 21, which all of us are.

The manager put the first person on hold and then transferred him to the receptionist, who again, hung up on us. When I called, I stated that this was not in the contract ANYWHERE! I also stated that it seemed unfair to deny an entire population service to the cabin. The worst part was they told us a little under a month before the reservation. Had we not called in to reserve another day, I doubt they would have notified us at all!

Whether or not this is discrimination, I am unsure. I feel as though they are discriminating against us because of our age.in any event, I do not feel like anyone at any age should be treated with such disrespect as we were by their staff. It is extremely unfair to us, as we are not like the college students they hold prejudice against. I guess our last spring break together before we all move away will never happen.
