Imperial Majesty Cruise Line
They told me that I 'won' a trip to the Bahamas

Traveling & Tourism

The following is a solution, not just another sad story:

Like other reporters on this site, I was telephoned and told that I had 'won' a cruise to the Bahamas. I just had to pay $299 plus $150 in port taxes, plus airfare...

Anyway, I gave them my credit card information like a fool. Later on that day, I called back (twice) to cancel. They told me that it was completely non-refundable, and tried to offer me upgrades to my package. I was completely frustrated.

Then I found out about the Sellers of Travel Florida Statutes, and read section 559.927 regarding the rights of people who buy travel certificates (which I took to mean any form of travel that they sold you). The Statute can be found here: http://www.800helpfla.com/pdfs/StatuteTravel. Pdf and the most important text is as follows:

You may cancel this contract without any penalty
or obligation within 30 days from the date of
purchase or receipt of the vacation certificate,
whichever occurs later."

"you may also cancel this contract if
accommodations or facilities are not available
pursuant to a request for use as provided in the
contract."

Sellers of travel. Florida statutes ss. 559.926 559.939 page 5 of 8
"if you decide to cancel, you must notify the seller
in writing of your intent to cancel by returning the
certificate and sending notice to: (name of seller)
at (seller's address).

Do that and if you don't get your full refund, refer your credit card company to this statute and they will dispute the claim for you. That is my advice. I find there is a lack of advice out there, just pity and sob-stories. Well, here is a solution.

Best of luck!
