Dishonest Sales Practices - Does Not Provide Promised Services - Does Not Respond

Traveling & Tourism

We signed up with this company 4 years ago for a 10 week package and have been disappointed ever since. They are slow to respond to requests, have lots of extra charges and do not have the "large inventory" the salesman promised at contract signing.

The latest insult involves a request for 2 units for 1 week in Chincoteague Virginia. Salesman assured us that inventory was available at this popular seashore resort on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. When we contacted Vacation Network to locate a property, nobody on the staff even knew the area existed and tried to switch us to Virginia Beach or Ocean City, MD. (Chincoteague is home to a National Wildlife Refuge and is widely known for it's herd of wild ponies).

Of course we had already sent them the required $800 deposit to cover 2 units, including the prime season penalty and East Coast seashore penalty. After a month of stalling on their part, it became clear they could not deliver and we put a deposit on a house with a local broker in Virginia. At the same time we requested a refund from Vacation Network.

It has been over 3 months now and they have an excuse every time we contact them. "The person you spoke with is no longer with the company" "Somebody should have contacted you by now". Etc, etc.in the meantime, they now claim that a property is available, but it is not large enough to accomodate our request. A letter to the President of the company was never answered.

Does anyone know if they still conduct sales in New Jersey? My lawyer says we have a better chance of legal action if yes.
