Ripoff, Misleading, Fraudulent information and False Practices

Hello. My name is Michelle. As of 4/6/07 I unfortunately made the mistake of responding to the certificate Ramada Plaza Resorts sent to me in the mail. It seemed appealing at first to see I was pre-selected and elgible for a $1600 travel voucher towards a vacation package.
I made the mistake of contacting Ramada Plaza Resorts on my own for specific details regarding the package. I was told I would receive a 3 night 2 day stay in Ft. Lauderdale, 2 night 2 day cruise to the Bahamas, and a 3 night, 2 day stay at the Orlando resort.in addition, I talked to a representative by the name of Kathy and even spoke to a supposed manager by the name of Johnathon G in the Ft. Lauderdale offices.
I was told specifically, the cost for the first passanger would be $798, the second $698, and 3rd or 4th passenger would be $198. The representative stated I was only responsible for taxes, gratuity, gambling, and fuel charges for the rental I would receive. However, my experience with Ramada Plaza Resorts was by far the worst experience I have personally had with any company.
I told Kathy I could not pay $798 to secure the vacation and even decided to hang up. However, Kathy connected me to her manager Johnathon G who stated to me the $798 would be funded by another source and all I had to pay was $15/month.
The first payment would be in May. Even more, I specifically asked Kathy if the resorts would try to sell a timeshare and she said NO. She stated there would be no sales presentation.
Well, after speaking with these representatives, I was informed by Johnathon G I was being transferred to a voice authorization specialist who would secure my package by accepting my credit card number. He also stated to me I would receive an additional 2 tickets for Universal Studios and/or Disney World.
Johnathon G blatantly told me these arrangements were special bonuses only he could offer me and that these "special arrangements" are not stated specifically in the generic recording. Well, I went ahead with the authorization. To my surprise, the day after Easter, I checked my online banking only to see I was charged the full $798 by Ramada Plaza Resorts and my account was overdrawn.
What angered me most is the fact I stated specifically I could not afford that deposit amount. I was mislead intentionally and fraudulently. So, I contacted Ramada Plaza Resorts back to inquire more about the package. Now, I had doubts regarding the promises made to me by both Kathy and Johnathon G.
I was highly upset. The first representative said she could not assist me because of the verbal authorization and hung up. Never before had I received such poor service. I was persistent though. I contacted Ramada Plaza Resorts again. This time I talked with George Normand who stated to me he would refund only 80% back to my account. I stated clearly I wanted to cancel. You have to understand.
At this point, I did not trust this company. Well, he then goes on to tell me only 2 tickets to Universal Studios/Disney World are included and that miscommunication happens sometimes between the customer and the reps. I will tell you now. There was no miscommunication whatsoever.
These representatives intenionally misled and conducted fraudelent business practices just to secure a deposit on a vacation at all costs. I am angered and want to thank some of the previous customers who filed their reports to include contact information and procedures for obtaining a refund from Ramada Plaza Resorts. My only reason for even spending this time to report them is to hopefully keep others from making the same mistake I did.
Do not always believe what you hear. Make sure before agreeing to any package, it is sent in writing. Thanks for viewing my report.
