My family and I were advised by management at Princesa de Penesco to leave Mexico one day earlier than planned due to the Mexican border being closed during a strike against Nuclear waster being brought across the border
Avoid Rocky Point Travel at all costs.in particular The Princesa de Penesco hotel located located at Camino La Choya in Rocky Point. The hotel is old and the manager is deceptive in his practices, and as of March 18 I am still waiting for a refund.
As the letter below indicates Mr. Mel Sabregas has no indication of being an honest businessman. I had signed no imaginary document attesting to his "protocols" listed below and he had the original letter in his possession via Email prior.
He even went so far as to tell me that the reason I was not credited at checkout was due to the fact that he does not want to be charged a merchant fee for the reversal. Hence the 10% figure. Oh, and one more thing. They charge a hefty fee for the maid service ($30.00 U.S.) Which is about God knows what in Mexican money, without disclosing that at check in or checkout.
When I asked for a receipt reflecting my day early checkout as recommended by the hotel due to the border being closed for a strike I was told by the front desk that they do not issue receipts in spite of a $1500.00 Compaq pc and black and white LaserJet printer sitting there right next to him. After negotiating for a receipt with 3 people, and over one hour later I had gotten the manage to finally provide one.
To add insult to injury the amenities were primitive, and there is no place to shop after 9:00 pm. The entire town is a watering hole for college kids with one filthy grocery store to serve the entire population. My recommendation? Anywhere but there.
Oh and one more thing, they charged my neighbor $15.00 for a towel that they claimed was missing from their room. Apparently the maids do this on a regular basis, (hide towels to generate extra income for the hotel.) I heard this same story from 4 other guests while there.
