Ramada
Ripoff No Refund

Traveling & Tourism

Ok, so i am not sure exactly what i can do or if i have actually been scammed, but here is my story.

In 2003 I got this thing in the mail saying that I had been selected to receive a vacation. I was really excited, and called the number right away.

You see, at that point when you call that number you think YOU HAVE WON SOMETHING. You don't think that your about to pay for something. Not to mention the fact that I was 19.

So they went thru this whole story about this luxorious vacation, and how much fun your going to have. The whole time your still thinking that you have won something, or are going to get something special just for you.

They keep you on the phone for a really long time, and basically just BS with you about your vacation, and if you have ever been there etc. Finally they get to the money part, and they say that its 698, but you don't have to pay all of that today. I also wasn't aloud to call back or anything. I had to buy the vacation (or at least put money down) at the time of that call. It was basically "buy the vacation or get off the phone". So I bought.

They guy told me I could make a payment of $174, and the rest I could pay at a different date. So i was like "ok", and I ended my call. I don't know, I am normally not naive enough to buy or do something this stupid, but the people had really made it seem like this was something spectacular.

Well I got my vacation info in the mail, and decided that I really didn't want to go. It was expensive, and at the time i wasn't making enough money to pay for that and airfare. It seemed like a good deal, but I just want financially able to do it.

So I call the customer care number in the "Reservation Forms Guide" 1-800-203-9783. They told me that because the package was too expensive for me that they would give me a different one that included 5 days 4 nights at Amerihost Resort in Kissimmee FL,
and 2 two day pass to Universal Studios for me and my guest. They said that's all they could do for me.

That package was 238 Dollars, and I had paid 174 dollars of it. So time went on, and money was hard to come by, so I called Ramada, and asked for a full refund. They told me that they could not do that because I accepted the smaller package. I called numerous times, and talked to so many different people, but no one would help me.

At one point some lady did offer to extend my package for 18 months for free, but was just so upset that I hung up the phone. I honestly did not know what to do. So I finally got a job that's a little better, and someone to go on vacation with, so I recently called them.

I first called them back in DEC of '04, I knew that my package was expiring, and chose to extend it for $85 dollars. I didn't have a checking account so I sent a money order. It got there fine, and my vacation was extended for 18 months.

The only reason I finally decided to do the vacation thing was because i had previously paid $174 dollars, why should i let that go to waste? They were not going to let me have a refund, so what was i supposed to do? So i recently decided that I wanted to take the vacation.

I called recently, on 5-31-05 and they said that all my vacation info was good, and that I could book at anytime. I had a $82 dollar balance that I had to pay first. At that time the lady told me that if I want to add a cruise to my vacation I could for $99. I didn't purchase it that day because I wanted to verify dates with my boyfriend, and make sure everything was ok.

I called back on 6-02-05 and asked to purchase the cruise, and they gave me this big run around about how they couldn't do that with the vacation that I had purchased from them. Finally I got so upset, and was like fine, just give let me book my vacation and pay my balance of $82 dollars.

So i booked the dates for 8-21-05 thru 8-25. My seminar is on the second day.
I am not sure what to do now after reading this forum. Do I go on the vacation? Have I been ripped off? Can someone please let me know what's going one because I just bought plane tickets, and reserved a car thru orbits.
