American Airlines
Ripoff changed policy on ticket transfe

Traveling & Tourism

I purchased an airline ticket for a business associate in order that he could attend a meeting in San Francisco. The meeting time was changed so I canceled the trip and asked the American Airlines agent if I could use the credit at a later date. She said that I could.

When the time came to use the $522.90 credit I was told that the credit could only be used by the person to whom the ticket was origionally issued. When I canceled the ticket I was told that "I" could use the credit. When I complained to American Airlines I was told that the agent probably thought that because I purchased the ticket that I was also the person to whom the ticket was issued. I said that what the agent thought is immaterial what she said was all that was important. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told that everyone in her department was equal and there were no supervisors.
The deadline for using my credit is fast approaching and American Airlines seems to think that it is easier to replace a customer that to please them. Thankfully there many other airlines to choose from.
