Nevada Landing Hotel Casino Gift Shop
Charged my credit card $203.65 for a $53.65 purchase from gift shop $150 extra ripoff!

Traveling & Tourism

Beware! Before purchasing anything on a credit card ask if they hold more than the purchase amount and for how long.

On our way home from Colorado we stopped into the Nevada Landing Casino on 3-31-05 to check out the gift shop. We purchased 3 items totalling $53.65 and charged them to our bank Master Card.

After we arrived home that night we signed into our banks website to do some banking and found that Nevada Landing Casino put a hold on our Master Card in the amount of $203.65!!! That's $150.00 more than the purchase amount. We called Nevada Landing and no one seems to know why the extra $150.00 is being held.

Their response to us was "we will call the bank and ask them to remove the hold but sometimes they don't listen to us" meanwhile we cannot access this money until the target date of realease of the hold which is 4-03-05.

This may not even be legal because there is no sign stating this policy anywhere in the gift shop. It is legal for hotels, restaruants and gas stations to place a hold so they can be sure the entire bill is covered BUT A GIFT SHOP? I will be researching this if you have any info for me please post it or email me @ (see below)
