Extremely cold air in passenger seating

My recent flights 965 AMS/EWR and 1600 EWR/LAX were extremely uncomfortable due to the arctic air blasting from the ceiling air conditioners. Other seatmates beside me and across were also complaining and the attendants said they would call the pilot to warm up the cabin, but it did not last long. I sat for hours covering my head with a pillow I brought since no blankets were available, stiff neck and soreness from sitting in this freezer for so long.

The attendants on one flight said they noticed the temperature difference between the front and back of the cabins. It did not seem to matter. My first seat was toward the back of the plane. The return from Newark to LAX near the front. Both were freezing.
