Overcharged and very poor customer service

We booked airfare through orbitz, the site asked if we wanted to upgrade to higher class level and we could choose our seats. We paid 120.00 extra, however they put it through to the airline as basic fare, and now we have to also pay the airline to choose our seats. We booked this months ago, was on phone over 3 hours, talked to 3 different people, waited over an hour for a supervisor to talk to, but they never picked up the phone. Very poor customer service, they were like robots repeating the same thing, but told me they didn't charge me for that, even though my emails show a high class with seat assignements, they were not willing to contact the airline for upgrade, they said it is my misunderstanding. But they took my money!!! Never again.
