Hung up on by agent/customer service - United Airlines flight 4549

My husbands flight from Manzanillo Mexico to Houston then to Detroit was cancelled due to mechanical failure. I am glad that they discovered this before taking off. My husband didn't have a cell phone so a kind passenger had his wife call me to tell me. Great, kind person. When I contacted United agent MIRANDA to inquire, not only was she hard to understand, strong accent, quick speaking, background noise etc., I did not even get info on when to expect him she just which day not a time then she hung up on me before I could get the information regarding the delay details and when and when I could expect his return exactly. (I was told it would be 2 days from the original time). I asked if I could speak to manager because I was worried about him regarding accommodations hotel, food etc, not knowing what was going on. That's when she hung up on me. That was 7:15 am Monday, May 20. I called back and got Ugish from India, 8:01 am May 20. He was much better at customer service-he gave me details and told me that husband could buy food then said airlines would provide complimentary meal. I still don't know if that's true. I was concerned about what money my husband had to take care of his needs. Another big issue is that the original flight had one stop before Detroit destination and the make up flight had two. My husband has health issues and I am concerned about this longggggggggggg day for him. I would like to be able to speak with some one in U.S. United Airlines not a foreign country about my concerns. I would like to know details that I wasn't told. I do not know what money my husband has and how he is getting by; Hotel cost, food cost, taxi cost etc. Of course, we want to be compensated for these expenses.in the past this flight was through Continental airlines.
