Expedia.com Never Notified Me About Flight Cancellation

I booked a flight to Mexico in September - months before my scheduled travel date of May 12. Received an email asking me to contact them about "significant" changes in my itinerary in October. Turns out there was a 5 minute change in the flight departure. No big deal. So now it's two days before I fly - I receive a confirmation saying "no need to call and reconfirm, you are booked." Except I wasn't. I couldn't check in online the day before the flight - because the flight number I was provided DID NOT EXIST. My flight was cancelled and Expedia.com never notified me.
I rebooked for the next day directly with the airline and called Expedia to complain and ask them to help me reschedule transportation from airport to resort in Mexico (which I did not book through them). I was disconnected three times and am now on hold with the fourth agent. I don't have much hope that they will be helpful.
