"missing info" for rebate

I purchased an additional 2 phones from an AT&T store, both of which were supposed to have a $50 rebate. I sent all the information in as directed by the store cashier - including cardboard cutouts of the barcodes, receipts, contracts etc. They just sent me a letter saying that they couldn't process the rebate because the "date on the cash register receipt or packing slip is either missing or not within the valid dates of this offer" A load of baloney! This is the second time I've had this experience with AT&T and I think they do this as a standard procedure because it is a nuisance for the consumer to follow-up and send in more information. When this contract is up, I am changing phone companies.
