Charged for cancelled membership!

My spouse has already established a poor connection with the above mentioned two membership getting out the account charge for nearly annually after his agreement had finished. The gym didn't acknowledge we'd terminated the agreement though this assitional year was beyond the first commitment time. The direct money was put up into our checking account which we usually don't check. We discovered only a week ago and we've been seeking for discounts and termination. They simply WOn't actually hear. Does anybody understand what we are able to do within this scenario. Is there any means we are able to obtain the reimbursement of our nearly £1000 which cleared our savings.
