Fraudulent Offer, advertises a "free week", then throws a bunch of rules to thwart offe

South Beach Fitness prominently advertises an offer of a free week. On two occasions I showed up attempting to accept the offer. (I just moved to town and want to join a gym.) Each time my attempts to redeem the offer were thwarted by a different set of rules. Why didn't they tell me the all the first time? The manager even said he overheard my first visit, but couldn't be bothered to provide helpful information.
The manager also implied that I might be presenting fraudulent documents to support my application! Why??? I want to join! I WANT TO GIVE SOME GYM MY MONEY!!!
What is the big risk over granting $5 worth of gym time to gain hundreds of membership $??
How stupid are these people???
