False & fraudulent advertising - free 10-day pass

24 Hour Fitness advertises on their website a free 10-day pass to any of their clubs. You can download a coupon for this offer from their website and take it in to supposedly redeem it for 10 days of free access to the club.

I have been shopping around for a good fitness facility and wanted to try out 24 Hour Fitness and compare it to other clubs in my area. When I went in to 24 Hour Fitness with the coupon I'd printed out from their website, they gave me a high-pressure sales pitch and told me that they were going to "trade in" my 10-days-free coupon for a monthly membership package with the initiation fee waived.

I told them that what I was interested in was exactly what their website and the coupon offered, i.E. A free 10-day pass. They told me that they weren't able to give me that (and gave me some excuse about how their "system" would only allow them to give out so many free 10-day passes per month, and they had just given away the last one that morning).

I called them on their fraudulent and unethical business practices before I left the club, telling them that they were engaging in false advertising and that they were flat-out lying to their prospective customers, which of course they denied. But if they don't call it fraud or false advertising, I'd like to know what they call it.

I wanted to make other consumers aware that 24 Hour Fitness is a business that uses false advertising and fraudulent offers for services that are not actually available. Please don't do business with this company, they are dishonest and unethical!!!
