In December of I requested that the LA Fitness branch in Deerfield Beach, Florida freeze my account for a six month period. My wife wished to continue service so I was willing to continue to pay for her account. However, we were not in a position to pay for two accounts, one of which was never being used. They agreed and enacted the account freeze at that time.

On the 25th of the month, my wife and I received a phone call in order to pay a bill. We went online and paid the bill. The following month, I was charged for both accounts again as though the freeze never took place. A continued request to freeze the account, once in February, another in March and finally in April, after a fourth request, the account is frozen.

When I contacted them about the overbilling, they denied any responsibility at the local branch. Then, they took a phone call at the corporate offices which ended by them saying that they would reimburse me for the charges if I could provide them with the appropriate information, having realized I made the request. No action was taken in spite of my pointing out the information on their side which was available, though they deny it.

What business would have a serialization input to determine membership usage and pretend like they don't have that data?

Clearly, if they took the time to look up my login records, they would see that the account should have gone into some kind of automated frozen status.instead, they continue to nefariously bill my checking and credit card account. Way to be.

On 4/16/07 I spent two hours of my life online with a person by the name of Kain. Kain admitted they had received the request to freeze the account, and I had to work for that, and then continued to evade the online conversation because it would mean he would have to hold true to anything that was put down in writing.

I took several screenshots of the entire conversation to ensure I at least had his avoiding dealing with me like a large, profitable business should in the interest of transparency. LA Fitness is a crook. They owe my wife and I $253.36 and have made NO effort to appease our ills with their company.

I suggest anyone who does business with this company considers very carefully how important accurate accounting is to their everyday life and whether or not you can afford to spend $40 per month for a membership you may no longer be interested in.

Did I mention that their trainer also had to be repremanded for the way that she treated the clients in her classes? Nothing like paying through the nose for being verbally acosted, then being double charged, and finally, being told to stuff your gripe with the company up your butt. Can't wait for my next bill.
