Thesportsauthority.com dishonest, no association with stores, completely different companies

I bought an elliptical machine online from Sports Authority, thinking I would have the local stores as backup in case something ever went wrong. I could have bought it directly from the manufacturer Proform, but thought Sports Authority would be better - again thinking local support.

First of all, the thing weighs almost as much as I do, but I put it together - no problem - just needed to get the console batteries. Thinking everything was ok, I got rid of the box.

Long story short, once the batteries were installed the console would come on, but everything stayed at 00 - nothing worked - no programs - no fan - zip. I contacted the store and they couldn't/wouldn't help me. I would have to call the website as they are 2 different companies and are not related AT ALL even though the website clearly says Sports Authority.

Called the Sports Authority.com # and got the most rude "customer service" person I've ever dealt with! I asked if someone could either tell me how to fix it or have someone out to fix it. NO, I'd have to return it! I told her that wasn't an option. The thing was upstairs and was too heavy for me to manage PLUS the box was history. Since it had to be something simple, it was silly to return it. "NO, you HAVE to return it".

So after much arguing, told her fine, but whoever is sent to pick it up will have to remove it from upstairs and box it. She told me I would be contacted up to 3 times to schedule a pickup. On the 3rd time, I was basically SOL. I specifically asked if someone would call to schedule - YES. Two days later there's a note on my door that that was my 3rd and final notice. I had given this rude woman every phone # possible to reach me - each number has voicemail. I never heard a word from anyone.

Moral to the story - Do Not Buy From Sports Authority online - they are a complete ripoff! And rude to boot!
