AT&T Wireless
Ripoff bought out my wireless company and did not inform then began bogus charges

I was an At&t wireless customer many years ago and was so unhappy with the service and unexplained charges every month. Every month I paid. I paid quite a bit to get out of my contract with them and went to SunCom for my wireless needs.

At some point At&t bought out Suncom and unknowingly I was now back with at&t. They continued to send their bill as Suncom for many months and it was fine, then on day my phone no longer said suncom it said at&t - I was floored and cancelled my service, I had fulfilled my obligations of my contract so there should have been no charge for leaving.

Two years later I received a letter for a lawyers office saying I owed 140.00 to At&t but noone could tell me what it was for-I had to do my own reserch because they could not even find my account number! I was passed back and forth between customer service personal, collection agencys, and a LAWYER!!!

Every one of them gave me some sorry excuses for what the charges could possibly be but when they found out that I had done a little research myself and had proof that my last bill was paid in full suddenly they told me it must have been a charge left over from suncom and since they were no longer in existence I could not speak with anyone about this matter so I just needed to send the money. They have reported this to the credit company so now I have this on my credit and it is all bogus.

All I did was waste my time doing research because all I was told over and over was call someone else then when I would not fold I was told to get a lawyer. The collection agency gave me a settlement and I guess I have to pay it but I want eveyone to know how they do business—Cingular customers you are next!!!
