Is trying to charge me for a service I never ordered ripoff

In June of my mother-in-law gave us a letter sent to her address with my husbands name on it. He has never lived at that address.inside was a bill from a collection agency, First Revenue Assurance, stating that he owed Qwest $71.87.

We tried to contact First Revenue Assurance to clear this matter up and they told us to contact Qwest because they couldn't help us. We contacted Qwest and got no where. The time frame that the long distance service was ordered, my husband wasn't even in the state. They refused to hear anything. They insinuated that my mother-in-law put the service on in his name w/o his permission. She would NEVER do such a thing.

I persisted in contacting them and got no where. I disputed the bill w/the collection agency as directed and they have yet to respond since 07/22/04. Now all of the sudden, my mother-in-law has no long distance on her phone. When you try to make a long distance call it tells you to call Qwest. We tried, no results. What can we do??
