Sees Candy Shops, Inc
Great Candies BUT POOR hygiene when handling candy

Shops, Products, Services

My experience with sees candies for decades in phx, glendale & mesa shops is that the candy is great & I love it. But I have always NOTICED that their employees do not wear gloves when picking & packing the candy boxes for the customers.

Instead I have always seen 2 wadded up tissues & they touch the candy papers & candies with those while they are dipping their hand into the drawers of candy. There is no way that the fingers or hand is not inadvertently touching the candies. They also pack the candy very fast which make that most likely to happen.

And then the employee gifts wrap the boxes of candy & then takes the filthy money & then goes back to the wadded pieces of tissues to pick the candy out of the drawer, while putting the candy wrapper in the box at the same time.

I have also seen an employee sweep the floor with a broom & then go back to the wadded up tissue to pack the candy in the box without washing their hands. It makes me wonder if Sees is so cheap that it cannot afford plastic gloves for the employees who handle the candy.

There are always 2 employees in the store so one should handle the candy with gloves & the other the money. Sees maintains that the method they use is cleaner than gloves.in my opinon, they are wrong

If that argument were true then why do alot of house cleaners use gloves to clean toliets then not putting anything over their hands? The answer is they want their hands to be clean & they don't want to accidentally touch anything in the toliet.

Even though it is a different issue. Gloves obviously are more sanitary even though sees maintains it isn't even though the employee could scratch their nose, face etc. With their hands. Many food places use plastic gloves when handling food but they obviously do not think this necessary.

I believe Sees doesn't want to pay the xtra cost of gloves & gloves would slow down the employees but unfortunately the customer is the one who gets candy in a less sanitary way & it is definitely is less clean no matter what they say their results show.

Anyone can see with their eyes & know gloves that cover the entire hand are cleaner when dipping their hands into alot of drawers of candy. There is just no way that the fingers or hand will never touch a part of that candy some times without using gloves that cover the entire hand.

And the fact is most people do not practice cleanliness with food especially in a shop or restaurant unless they are made to.in fact most places have to state employees must wash their hands after using the restroom. I also wonder why there is not a sink to wash their hands in the area where the candy is kept inside the store.
