Transferred phone number to new company and charged for full month

My boyfriend and I both transferred our cell phone services and numbers out of T-Mobil. We both were charged for an extra partial/full month of services when we were not with T-Mobil anymore. I contacted T-Mobil to inquire why they were charging us for an extra month of service when the number was transferred out of T-Mobil.

The customer service representative just stated it's in the contract and because we did not contact T-Mobil first, before transferring, she was unable to refund us. I have not verified with the contract yet, since we signed up with T-Mobil over 6 years ago and within that time resigned the contract 2 times. Who knows what contract to look at since companies can just change the contract at their own discretion.

The billing cycle starts on the 14th of the month. Julio transferred his number on the 18th of the month, there for he is over paying practically a whole month. I transferred my number out on the 26th of April and paying for 17 days extra. So in essence, we paid two companies each; for cell phone service.

I do not think companies should be able to make contracts so long and with fine print with legal mumble jumble in order to only protect themselves. Because it's in the contract, should not make it legal for T-Mobil to steal money from us, without even providing any service to us. We were NOT in a 2 year commitment and should be able to leave the company without any penalties what so ever. Especially, since T-Mobil did not even provide us with any services.

T-Mobil stole money from both of us. We will never be returning to T-Mobil or any other company with similar practices.
