$500 Insurance Claim Unpaid on Laptop Damaged in Shipment

I mailed my Toshiba laptop computer to get it repaired in early July, as I had a virus and some software issues. UPS Store #4513 did not properly package the computer. I paid them to package the computer and send it by UPS, and I purchased insurance to cover a loss of up to $500. The computer was damaged in shipment. In late July I tried to file a claim with UPS Store #4513 for the $500 in damages, as I had purchased insurance from them when I mailed the package.

They refused to accept the claim and told me that I had to file the claim with UPS directly. UPS refused to accept the claim of loss. The repair facility where I mailed the computer contacted investigations at UPS in late July. A man named Larry Bennett in investigations was extremely helpful. He had my wife take the repair estimate to UPS Store #4513, and she did. She then took 26 photos of the computer, the box, the packaging, etc. to the store.

She also e-mailed the photos and repair estimate to the UPS investigator and to a lady at MBE (Mail Boxes Etc.), which licenses the "UPS" stores. The UPS Stores have the real UPS pick up and deliver the packages. The lady at MBE filed the claim and advised that it had been accepted. I mailed the computer to be fixed in early July. It is now September 24, and I have not received the money for the physically damaged computer that I paid to insure when I paid the UPS Store to send the package with my computer to be repaired for software problems.
