MCi Worldcom Wireless
Scam

Shops, Products, Services

In November I received my first mobile phone in the mail. I was told several very exciting things (from the salesperson) that I could do with a new digital phone from Worldcom Wireless. When I received the phone in the mail there was literally no instruction included and the coverage map was very hard to understand and on a small thin piece of paper. And just about everything that I was told my service would have was false information given out by the salesperson.

When I called I spent forever, it seems on hold, asked for help on how my time worked and what is peak, off peak, long distance etc, because I did not understand. The first (3) three persons that I called and talked to gave me the same definition of my plan. The reason I called back so many times is... My daugther who has had a mobile phone for years, said that it did not sound right.

I called back the second time and mentioned this and I was assured it was right. Then I worried about it so I called back again and verified again and was given the same definition of my service. Came to find out after I was using the service for almost a month that the plan was the exact opposite of what I was told. When I was asked why I was told false information I was told that I was responsible for reading the information on the plan myself. I said you never sent me any information on the plan and the one thin page that you did send was a bad copy and hard to read. It was basicially, too bad, but we can not help you and if you want to cancel, it will be $200. I could not talk to a supervisor or manager.

I still have not been able to get ahold of an explanation of the plan I am on. Calling customer service is a very stressfull experience. The Worldcom Wireless web page says that Worldcom Wireless is not available in my zip code area. I was told that I am actually Sprint Cellular and Worldcom Wireless purchased time or something from Sprint. My plan is 200 minutes a month peak and 10000 off-peak.

My first month I was 786 minuted peak and 112 minutes off-peak. My bill was almost $100. I still believe this was a scam. I thought I read something stating that Amway had taken over MCI. I do not know for sure. Could this explain some of this underhandedness going on.

I am counting the days until I can cancel my service and go with someone else. Now I sure hope that will happen when I do.By some of these letters I am not sure if it will.

Thank you,
