Check your cell phone bill carefully!

I was shocked to get my AT&T cell bill because it was so much higher than normal. 4 of 5 of our lines had multiple recurring monthly charges on them. The charges were for things like horoscope or quote of the day. None of our employees could recall authorizing any of them. I called AT&T and they were willing to credit the charges back, but had difficulty explain how this happens with no clear authorization. I was told that clicking something in Safari or an unsolicited text, you could get signed up for this stuff.

It is obvious that AT&T has some process in place to charge for these items but it must be questionable enough practice because the reps seemed all too happy to credit the charges back. Further, AT&T should be telling customers this could happen, explaining how it happens, and how to prevent it. Im sure many people just pay the charges and it is a nice revenue increase for AT&T, but it is really a shady practice. Makes me loose respect for AT&T. I now know that you can put a block on so these random charges cant happen, but they should not be happening anyway.
