Target
Ripoff issues Rainchecks But relies on you to honor them

Shops, Products, Services

I went into a Target Store on Sunday 8-29 to purchase a dresser. The dresser was advertised on sale in that days paper. When I got there they were out of the dresser. There was a raincheck on the dresser display model.

I took the raincheck as instructed to the check out. The clerk told me that I need to check the rack over the next 30 days and grab one of the dressers when they come in. I always thought that when you had a raincheck ths store would call you to see if you still wanted the item and if you did they would then hold it for you and you could buy it at the sale price.

What I have to do instead is go to the store everyday (because a truck does come in daily) and see if there is a dresser on the shelf. If I don't find one in the next 30 days the raincheck is invalid and I will not get the sales price on the dresser.

So if I understand this they can advertise an item to get you in the store. If it is not in stock then you will get this raincheck to keep you coming into the store for a month. They must figure that if you are in and out of this store you will spend money on other things.

Is it me or does this allow them to advertise items that they may or may not have in order to lure you into the store?
