Boat Lift Failure

Hi-Tide sold my marine contractor a 10,000 # boat lift in 2007. It did not have cross bracing on the I-beams and had carpeted bunks over treated lumber, a combination that deteriorates the metal when it comes into contact with it. (Aluminum bunks should be used in lieu of lumber) They used 4" X 6" I-beams without any cross bracing, I-beams according to the inspections I had are rated for a maximum 9,000 #. My boat weighted 5,800 # dry. Four years later, the lift collapsed under the weight of the boat. They told me that this lift was only rated for 9,000 # (after selling me one rated for 10,000 #) and that the weight difference was not relevent. I am out of pocket $2,100.00 after they categorically rejected my claim without even looking at the damage.
