Dog Breeder - Totally Unethical!

After sending in a hefty deposit requested by the breeder, I stumbling upon many many complaints regarding this breeder. I contacted the breeder to discuss the complaints that had spanned for over 7 years. I was already getting a little weary because once I sent in my deposit, the breeder (Leah Anderson) became less and less communicative with me. I also requested pictures of the puppies, which she never sent.

Once we did speak regarding my fears after reading all the complaints on several different websites, Leah stated she only knew of one of them and wasn't sure about the rest and that she wasn't going to spend the money to have them squashed from the internet. On that call she told me if I wasn't comfortable, she would refund my money. For the next few days I researched even more and more and more complaints and negative feedback popped up.

I contacted her to let her know I didn't feel comfortable and that my mother-in-law, who was recently admitted to Hospice care for liver failure, had moved in with us and we had decided not to purchase a puppy from her because I could not take the chance with 5 kids of being riddled with expensive vet bills and possibly ending up with a puppy with severe health problems that my children would be effected by.

She refused to return our money and said she would hold it for 2 years. We even offered to split the deposit with her and have her put $500 towards the purchase for the next family who would take the puppy we had deposited. She never responded to any correspondence after the one call and sold the male puppy in less than a week and a half. PLEASE do your research on these people before you do business with them.

They are very pleasant in the beginning before you give them any money, but after that, they are very unprofessional. They are not known by reputable breeders in the German Shepherd ring and shepherds that have far better pedigree are less money. I am sorry I did not do my homework before dealing with them and having to tell my 5 excited kids that we were not getting our puppy.
