My husband and I hired East Coast Moving System (6289 W. Sunrise Blvd. #207; Sunrise FL 33313; 1-800-844-3473) July 1 to pack up our household and move us from WV to TN.

I am semi-invalided and recovering from rotator cuff surgery and we needed to move the 3rd week of July for my husband to start a job at TTU (TN Technological University). I told the girl I spoke with that we needed a larger truck than we could rent and people to pack. I explained that we had over 100 boxes packed that were the size of both Budweiser cases and Heinekin cases (that we had gotten from local stores and the brewery) so they were not the same size as the boxes we had bought of standard sizes.

We also had 50 totes that were 1.5'X3'X4' as well as a living and dining room set etc., and we were quoted a price of $3902 including packing up the household. We were then told that the company did not take credit cards. I told the woman we had $5000 in cash and that was all we had to spend and she assured me there was no problem. I was required to pay by check over the phone, $770. When the people showed up late the 13th (7:30PM) in a rental truck the man told me that we would have to pay 8-9 thousand dollars in order to be moved. As we did not have access to that amount in cash we told them no and let them leave.

I contacted the girl that the driver told me was some idiot that sits behind a computer screen to no avail and we were forced to rent a Penske truck of our own and move with the help of summer school students from the college where my husband worked in WV. We were unable to fit everything in the truck and lost thousands of dollars worth of stuff that got thrown out because we did not have time to return back to WV before my husband had to report to TTU.

I wanted to report these people because their practices seem unjustifiable to me. Had they told us that it would cost that much from the beginning we would have moved ourselves and made two trips, but by the 13th that was impossible and we lost thousands of dollars in what could not fit in the truck we rented.
