The Past:
Like many, I hired Safe Touch after I had a break in. Mine was a vehicle in my driveway. I called, and a rep came by the house and sold me on it. I signed a contract, which the rep told me turned into monthly payments after expiration. He said, after that point I could cancel at any time.

For the next 4 years, I was relatively satisfied. I paid my bill, was a loyal customer, bought a few extra keychain remotes, and even recommended Safe Touch to a few friends.

The Move:
In July of I became aware of the fact that I would be moving. I called Safe Touch and asked what I had to do to cancel the service. I was told that all I had to do was fax in a written statement of my request. I did that.

A few days later I received a phone call, where a Safe Touch representative told me that they would not cancel my contract until I sent them proof that I was moving, and after I supplied that, there would be a large cancelation fee because my contract had been renewed. I told them that I had not renewed a contract and my status was month-to-month. They said my contract automatically renewed and there was nothing that I could do. Additionally, I did not have a lease or any bills for my new address, so they wouldn't cancel it.

I told the rep that I had been lied to, and I would not pay anything other than my final month's bill.

After the Move:
After moving, I began receiving calls and letters from a collection agency. I was told that they were going to continue to bill me monthly, as to the contract I did not renew myself, even though I was not using their service.

This week, I received a letter from the same collection agency stating I now owed over $800. Really? This is completely disgusting. You people should really be ashamed of how you do business.
