American Home Shield - heating "repair"

I called AHS because my heat wasn't working. They sent a technician from Climatech who spent 45 minutes in my attic, came down and told me he needed to change the thermocouple. He went out to his truck to get the part, went back into the attic for another 45 minutes. He came down and told me that replacing the thermocouple didn't work - I needed to have the pilot assembly cleaned. Since that was considered maintenance, it wasn't covered. I asked him how much that would cost and he said approx. $250. I called a reputable HVAC repair service. They came the next day and did the work for $70. They also discovered that not only did I not have a new thermocouple, the AHS technician didn't even leave the old one. I now have a call in for dishwasher repair. If I have as much luck with that, I'll tear up my AHS contract.
