Great American Van Lines Inc
Of Davie, FL Dishonest Company & Poor Management

Shops, Products, Services

I was referred to Great American Van Lines via Vanlines.com.
I called the company the first week of November and received a moving quote from Rebecca. I was quoted $1,037 for the move as long as the items listed were accurate. I spoke to other moving companies that suggested I request a binding
quote because the quoted amount was far too low. I received a binding quote stating the amount was valid as long as the movers were moving the items on the list. When the movers showed up 45 minutes late on the day of my move all of
the tricks and scheming began. The mover claimed Rebecca apparently made an error with the quote because the amount she quoted me was far too low. The mover them put me on the phone with Tony, the worst manager in the world, who
tried to tell me they would charge me a flat rate of $1,700 to prevent high fees from going over the square footage or pounds. FYI, my binding quote is for items, not pounds. I tried to tell Tony I was not quoted for pounds or square
footage, but items; however, the continued with their madness. I told them I would wait and see what my items weigh because I knew my items were 3,136 pounds when I moved in June and should be less now because I got rid of
over 33% of my items.

I informed Rebecca via email and telephone that I wanted to have someone present at the weigh station because I no longer relied on the company for accuracy. Rebecca never returned my call or email. After calling the company
for four hours without anyone picking up or answering my call, they called me and claimed my items weighed 3,380 pounds and the bill was $1,589. I asked how that was possible; at $0.38 per pound my bill should have been $1,264.40. They
claimed I was quoted $0.38 per pound for 2,730 pounds and anything over that was $0.85 per pound. Once again, I was never quoted on pounds, only items. So I asked, where is this information regarding the $0.85 per pound and Tony
claimed it was in the document I signed days before. The document I signed days before should have only revised the moving address. Apparently, they switched from the binding quote and added all the additional information after I changed
the address. After comparing the previous documents, I realized that is when they switched from per item to per pound and added the $0.85 per pound rate.

As if their ripping off wasn't enough, they also lied about my delivery date. I was told to expect my items on Saturday, December 17. After speaking with them on Friday to confirm the delivery, they claimed no you will not receive
your items until December 20th or December 21st.

If you can avoid it, please do not use this company. They lie about everything.
