Hungry Machine absurd customer service

Living-Social is just a cash machine with absurd customer service. My complaint is simple. I purchased a voucher to Esea beauty for microdermabrasion treatments for my wife as a gift for her birthday October 7th. The very next day after scheduling her first treatment and loosing her day planner she called Esea back to verify her appointment date and time. 4 voicemails later with no return call we decided to call living-social for a refund since that is who our contract or voucher is with.

We agreed to have Living-Social call the merchant on our behalf before issuing the refund in hopes of a resolution. However, instead of a return call from either the merchant or living social, we get the following email; Solution Details:
Thanks for your call yesterday. Our merchant services team has left your name and phone number with the merchant to get back to you. They were also told there are 4 receptionists that are returning voicemails as quickly as they can. The merchant will reach out to you but in the mean time we suggest you continue trying to contact them from your end. Thanks for Living-Social!

One week later, with still no call, we demand a refund to living-social. We were verbally given one over the phone however received the following email;

Solution Details:
We are sorry to hear about your experience with Esea. Under these circumstances, we would like to offer you a full refund for this voucher. Before we process you refund, we must confirm all canceled appointments with Esea. We will send you a confirmation email once your refund has been processed.

My last call to living-social yielded the same results even though a manager by the name of Liz was assisting me. Her resolution was dubious to the exact nature of the first representative I spoke with. Today is November 14th and I am still waiting for a resolution from living-social's management dependent on their communication with the merchant. My advise to consumers is to not purchase any voucher from living-social unless you are willing to take a loss. These vouchers make be ok for ice cream sundae's and sub's, but not sophisticated services.
