I should have listened to my inner "flags" when the two slick "salesmen" came into my office dressed in 3-piece suits.

They offically looked at my phone bills and stated they could provide unlimited long distance, local toll calls, etc., etc., etc. And save me $30 a month. They asked for and I provided a voided check to start a monthly automatic debit of a "flat rate" of $241.00 from our corporate business account.

The first debit of $241 went through 5 days later* BUT - and this is the important part - it was on a PRINTED CHECK with the same check number as the voided check with our corporate name and address in the usual place and at the bottom in the signature area, it stated "Signature on file" and "this check has been authorized by your depositor".

* this is without ever having received any phones or service, nothing, nada, zip

The 2 sets of cellphones finally sent were already used and because we are in a fringe area, we had no reception in our offices. I cancelled the "30-day" money-back guaranteed agreement within 20 days of the initial signing.

As a precaution and because of how shifty I was being dealt with, I put a stop-payment on future debits of the $241.00 amount with the bank. (There's that "feeling" again!)

I did receive a reimbursement check for the first $241 after hours of chasing down people in the customer service department.

I thought "Whew - am I glad THAT'S over!" Note: this is after HOURS of persistant calling their "customer service", etc.

Beware-beware-beware!!!

NORVERGENCE then printed a SECOND CHECK using the same voided check number, added long-distance taxes (remember, this was supposed to be a flat-fee of $241.00) and absconded with $288.94 from our account on March 30.

Then a letter was received (on April 12th) stating that this amount would be debited again on April 14.

I've put a stop payment on THIS new amount AND referencing this fraudulent check number and can only hope this will suffice.

Their customer service department is supposed to call me back in two days to resovle the issue. I'll keep you posted...
