Hit from the back... And it's my fault!

On August 1st I was hit from the back sitting at a stop sign... Mercury Insurance... My Insurance then said it was my fault!!! But could not explain why??? I was asked to pay a $500.00 deductible. And I was given my first point with the DMV!!! Mercury Insurance never tried to answer the question why I was at fault???
