I noticed a 7.95 charge on my bank statement in December 5 that I did not recognize. I discovered it was an Equifax charge. Upon further examinaton, I was very surprised to find that I had been charged 7.95 each month by Equifax beginning in April of for a total of 9 charges.
When I called Equifax that same day (12-5), they told me I had signed up their monitoring service. I told them that I could not remember doing that. She told me that I must have done so when I signed up for a free annual credit report from Equifax. I asked the customer service agent if there was any way to check to see if I had ever accessed the service. She responded there was. After a couple of minutes she told me that I had never accessed the website to utilize the service.
I told her that that should prove I never realized I had signed up for anything, as I certainly would have accessed it if being charged 7.
