Brian waters, broker do not purchase a house listed by mentor

Should you be looking to purchase a home in IN or IL listed by Mentor Realty based out of Michigan City, IN, do not consider buying that home. I don't know if they provide much if any service to the seller, but from my own experience they completely screwed the buyer.

Our purchase of a home fell through before the closing date when the lender didn't approve the loan. The earnest money that was paid to and held by the broker should have immediately been returned to us. Mentor Realty indicated that they were under no obligation to return the money that does not belong to them and now we are out $2000.
