Preferred Renewal Service
Magazine Renewal Fraud

Shops, Products, Services

I got a call from Preferred Renewal Service from #330-238-4942. She said it was a courtesy call to make sure I was receiving the magazines I had signed up for. I asked what magazines I was supposed to be receiving and she listed off several that I am not interested in so I got suspicious as to why I would sign up for magazines I don't want. She said that my account would automatically renew if I didn't verify my information. She asked me if I still lived at my address and then asked me for my birthdate. I gave her just the month and day and she said she needed either my birth year or my age to verify the account.

I told her I've received calls like this in the past and that when I finally make it to the manager they would use very poor choice of words with me so I was not interested in verifying my information and that I wanted to see what all she had for me. She said she could not give me any information on without me first verify that information first via me telling her. I hung up on her and did a search for the company to call them back myself and I found a bunch of sites with stories just like mine telling of how this company is taking money from anyone they contact without permission. I haven't noticed any charges to my account yet but I will continue to monitor for any changes.
