My pregnant wife and I were looking for a place to live and we stumbled across this mobile home park, Oak Run.
We were shown 2 trailers. One looked as if it was still being reconditioned, the other was fairly nice, although there was a slight bug problem. Trina and Violet Ferry (the manager) assured us that the bugs were do to a recent spraying of pest control, and they would not be an issue.
We chose the nicer trailer and put down a $300 deposit, which was to also cover 2 weeks of rent.
The next day we returned to take possession of the trailer we met a gentleman who was also waiting for them to get him into his trailer. After a short conversation with him we found that he had made a deposit on the same trailer the day before we did. He got the trailer. We were then shown several other trailers, but they did not have another 3 bedroom that was ready to be moved into.
In desperate need of a place to live, and being fully prepared to move (all of our belongings were in the truck) we agreed to go look at some other trailers in another park they owned.
We went down there, and again, they did not have a 3 bedroom available either. We were shown multiple trailers between the two parks and they were all nasty other then the one we had put a deposit on.
We were unable to move into the trailer we had put a deposit on, and we had no money left, so we were forced to move in with family until our deposit was mailed back to us.
One week later a letter came to us stating that our deposit would not be returned.
After contacting Nellie Fletcher, the area manager, we were told to kick rocks and "sorry about your luck."
She would not give us the phone number, email address, or names of anyone above her in the company. She became rude and evasive, and basically said "I'll see you in court if you want to file."
After long hard research we found that the name of the owner is Glen Pearson and his registered agent is Paul Comingore. We have been unable to contact either of them. I did find that Glen Pearson owns and has owned multiple llc's, does business under multiple names, and every time one of his llc's goes out of business many people are left being owed money. It is all very shady to say the least. Several other people we have contacted have had the same experience, and he keeps getting away with it simply by changing the name and opening another llc.
All we want is our money back so we can move on with our lives. This has seriously screwed our situation, and now our baby may be born while we are still staying with my parents.
