Treated like Trailer Trash

Hi,

This all started in June 1998, when I put my mobile home up for sale in order to be able to marry my long time boyfriend and move to Arizona to join him.

I contacted a company that specializes in the sales of mobile homes.in January, 1999, it was time to move. For an entire year the mobile home company notified me of several buyers but oddly the bank would not approve any of their loans.

Then after dropping this company, I went to a realtor who was a friend of mine. He called me saying that he approached the park where my mobile home was located to find out what a potential buyer needed to do in order to move into the park. They gave him a list of things that needed to be done to the actual trailer house. One of the biggest being a deck on the front and back of the home.

Ok, I decided to be compliant. I had my father go their office to find out about measurements. To his surprise he found out that the deck had to made of redwood. Not, pine, not oak, but redwood. First of all, who puts redwood on a trailer? It's a very expensive wood and most home owners don't use it let alone someone who owns a trailer. It's also a very high maintenance wood.

I am suspicious of their intentions. I think it is worthy to note that when I went into their office in September, 1999, I noticed a board above the manager's desk that had the trailers being sold and several trailers in bankruptcy.

No one in the park is allowed to sublet their property, therefore, everyone is an owner. Yet if they try to sell, they have to take a huge cut in order for potential buyers to be interested in investing in a redwood deck. It is not surprising many of these people are forced into bankruptcy. Most people who own trailer homes can't afford apartments or houses. I feel the owners of the park are discriminating against single women with children, and low income families and are trying to force them out.

I have excellent credit and I am not about to file bankruptcy in order to solve my headache.
