I applied to an ad on craig's list for a receptionist at a CPA firm. The next day I received an email from the supposed COO of the company, Danny Gaines.in the email, he states in order to come in for an interview, I first need to submit to a credit check. He provides a link to www.ThinkCreditReport.com and says it is completely free. He also includes their website, www.JeffersonCPAFirm.com. I first looked at the CPA firm's website which was completely unprofessional and did not include an address or contact number for the firm.
After further investigation, I learned that thinkcreditreport.com is NOT free. They charge $1.00 for all three reports; however, on their Terms and Conditions, it states if you do not cancel your membership within 7 days, you will be charged a monthly fee of $29.95.
Thinkcreditreport.com used craig's list as a way to scam job seekers into signing up for memberships and claiming to be free.
I am very disgusted with this company and I hope people do not fall for their scam. Remember to be careful when ever giving information over the internet. Always read terms and conditions!
