I recently applied for a veterinary receptionist position that I found on Craig's List. I sent an email with my resume attached. I received a response email from Claire Bloomberg at Rowe-Recruitment and Partners in which she stated that I was a qualified candidate for the position. I was instructed that in order to have an interview I had to answer a pre-interview questionnaire on the Rowe web site. I answered the questionnaire at the end of which I was asked to complete a credit report in lieu of a back ground check. There was a link that took me directly to Experian where I filled out the information for the credit report.
In the initial email from Claire Bloomberg and in the pre-interview questionnaire i was told that I was one of the top five candidates for the position and that I would hear something back within 72 hours. When I did not hear back I tried to go to the Rowe Recruiters and Partners web site but it was no longer in existence. I also could not find the ad on Craig's List anymore. It all just disappeared. Also, I had opted not to pay for any of the extras on Experian but one week later I was charged $14.95. I immediately called Experian and canceled the membership.
This is such a scam and one that really worried me. The connection to the credit report worried me that my identity had been compromised or stolen. I contacted Life Lock and made sure that they were aware of the situation.
