Refund Scam!

I ordered a pair of $125 shoes from Footsmart. I tried them on (less than 1 minute process in my dining room which has a hardwood floor). They didn't fit, so I returned them for a refund over a month ago. Here's where things start to go terribly wrong...

Today I received the shoes back in the mail. Footsmart says the shoes were "not in their original unused condition" so they can't refund. I look at the shoes. There is a little dust on the bottoms. I wipe it off with a damp paper towel and now the bottoms are perfect. There is not one scuff, scrape, or dirt of any kind on the shoes. They are brand new.

I call Footsmart customer service. The woman tells me they take a picture of all shoes that they refuse to refund, and that "the picture clearly shows the shoes are scuffed and have been walked in on a concrete surface". She tells me I cannot return the shoes for her to take another look. I'm out $125, plus the cost of shipping the shoes twice!

This is so infuriating! I've ordered from Footsmart before and I know there shipping costs are quite high, but this is the last straw. Now I see that this exact same thing has happened to a bunch of people. So beware! I think every shoe Footsmart has is also available on, or other way more reliable internet stores. Stay away from Footsmart... This could happen to you! Sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company. Plus, if you post a competitors name more than likely they will show up on search engines as a Rip-off! - - your comments on this policy are welcome.
